Solar Tubes Let the Light Shine Through

We have a hallway that is pretty dark leading out to the laundry room (it's dark too). You can't really go there without turning on a light. I've been looking into solar tubes as a way to fix the "lack of" light issue.

After conducting a bit of research I decided to share my findings with you.

What is a solar tube?

• It is a tube that runs from the roof to the ceiling of a room.
• They are often referred to as sun tubes or tubular skylights
• They look like common ceiling lights and blend easily into a room.

What do they do?

• They collect and reflect light which is diffused into the room in which it is installed.
• They can light 100-600 square feet of space depending on the tube size
• They require no electricity, create no pollution and can save on energy costs
• They provide a natural light environment which contributes to better physical and psychological health
• They produce approximately 68% less heat than an average light bulb
• They cut your electricity costs
  

How much do they cost?

Solar tubes regularly cost between $500-$800 depending on the size of the tube, tube extensions and added features. This doesn't include installation unless you do it yourself.

Senior Discount Sun City West, Sun City and Surprise at Your Local Grocery Store

It’s the first Wednesday ( February 3rd, 2010...almost) of the month again and it’s time for the Senior Discount at your local grocery stores. I did a little checking just to make sure that the following stores offer the 10% discount.

Points to Consider:

• 10% discount is good on items excluding alcohol, cigarettes and prescriptions.
• You must be 55 years of age to receive the discount with I.D.
  
• There may be a minimum dollar amount required to receive the 10% discount.

The Greatest Game Ever Played-There's a Message Here!

I was surfing around on tv last night, unusual. Then I came across this movie that rang a bell with me. A friend that flew with my husband had mentioned it to me a few years back. I never get to the movies, however I remembered this title.

I settled in and watched it. May I say I was completely mesmerized by it. What an incredible story about going against the grain, making a difference, believing in yourself when few do and pure determination.

The movie is a golf drama based on the true story of the 1913 US Open, where 20-year-old Francis Ouimet defeated his idol, 1900 US Open  champion, Englishman, Harry Vardon.

Of course Ouimet came from a simple family which didn't match up to the high society of competitors he was going up against.

If you haven't seen this movie and are up for a good dose of "you can do anything once you put your mind to it" this is the movie for you.

I am particularly drawn to movies that are based on a true story and this one was quite inspirational.

There is a human story here that really hits you to the core. If you've seen it I welcome your comments. If you haven't you must see it.
